FOUND:dominos

Visited my parents up in Ojai yesterday and had some quality dominos, not the pizza, the game.

Doms is taken pretty seriously.

Dad and I were partners...

We were behind most of the game....

But came from behind, to win the whole thing. Ahhhhhh all in a good days work.

FOUND:katsuya studio city

I just want documented proof that I willingly had dinner in studio city. I get a lot of flack for being a geo-snob. It's all fair though, as it takes a very special person to get me out of my comfort zone.

Stephanie wanted me to hit the 'suya in her barrio, who can turn down their spicy tuna on crispy rice, it would be a sin.

I really enjoyed my experience... I need to break out of my LA box a bit more.

LOST:time

Time is running out, my watch band is so worn it is about to snap.

"clocks slay time... Time is dead as long as it is being clicked off by little wheels; only when the clock stops does time come to life." - Faulkner

Thanks Faulkner, but I need my little wheels to do my little job to put little food in my little mouth.

FOUND: I LOVE LA

"I Love L.A.," featuring the judges' picks of 50 photographs by the 42 shooters, will open Aug. 11 with a free preview reception from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Pacific Ballroom at the downtown Wilshire Grand Hotel. Then it will run Aug. 13 to Sept. 17 at Duncan Miller Gallery, 10959 Venice Blvd.

I think it goes without saying... I LOVE LA.
As it is pretty evident, my blog is devoted to my absolute devotion and undying adoration of this city.

FOUND: post 42

A new store on La Brea just cropped up out of a barren parking lot. I spoke with the owner who said it would be open as a store as well as acting as a design firm. Totally my aesthetic.

It is visually dynamic and thematically fits the Avenue. Have yet to enter, will have more details at the opening when I get to see inside.

FOUND: Moscow mule

When you are cocktailing it is always best to find a place that does it right, so right it is perfect.
Like a martini at mussos or a margarita at el cholo....

My feeling is that the moscow mule at....

Dominick's in West Hollywood makes a perfect mule. And by perfect I mean, down to the variety of crushed ice and a pre-chilled copper mug selection, perfect.

Perfect is important in a drink and nothing else.

FOUND: pauline's handmade brittle

After stuffing our faces at Philly's Best we thought we should polish off the fried fat with some hardened sugarbutter.

This brittle will make it all better...
"one batch at a time."

I'm hoping that I start going back to three meals a day when this show wraps.... I'm busting my britches.

FOUND: rosen music studio

For Becca's Bachelorette extravaganza one of the party bus stops included karaoke...

I always have a strange amount of anxiety when it comes to singing in public. This time I prepped in anticipation, I already wrote down songs that I would feel comfortable singing.

The lighting was very hi tech.

Pretty impressive composition if I do say so myself.

FOUND: Natalie

Natalie, a friend from
London, came to visit and I forced her to give me some of her best poses.

Green steel

I urgently need to call Marc Jacobs and ask him to open a LA satellite Design office, so Natalie and I can go to Lemonade, lie in the grass, chat and chew whenever we please.

For now, I am left researching designers in LA and sending her job opportunities. Seeing a good friend twice a year is quite frankly not enough for me.

FOUND:soho haus

No flash... Because No cameras allowed.

If I was caught, there would be no Lucys allowed.

I was pretty stealth.

One of my favorite night views in LA can be seen from the patio.

FOUND: 3rd Street Promanade

I finally decided to check out the new development at the end of the promenade.... Meh. It honestly felt like the Hollywood and highland development. Just another concrete capitalist tourist Mecca lacking any real flair.

FOUND: dream bookshelf

The viceroy in Santa Monica has one of my favorite bookshelves of all time. I think I might have to find me a carpenter to date, with all my new wooden furniture interests.

FOUND: oh hi , from ojai

Mom sent me a quick email this weekend to remind me that the hikes in ojai are superior to Runyon. Fair enough most hikes are better than Runyon.

These photos do entice me to go out into the real ojai wild, you with your stick, me with my BB gun... You never know when you will come upon a mountain lion.

Your wish is my command.

LOST: coworker

With every show comes an End, with every end comes a departure of a coworker. Today was the first departure.

This obviously makes me very sad.... Who is going to agree to take a photo of me looking sad now?

I am wrapping up in two weeks and I am already missing this show and the team.

As much as I love being freelance and jumping from show to show, it is equally hard, hard to realize I don't know the next chance I'll get to work with them again.

FOUND:vodvil

The locale:

The Trivia gang:
Booze- Joe boo, Abigail, Armin
Team Name- me, ryan, Kim

The hostess/gamemistress

The game card & my sour patch kid winnings

We won our first round:

Joe bought these Feminine Pads of paper with his winnings:

Abigail bought this book:

All in all, food not worth writing about, service was mediocre, and the mandatory $ 4 entertainment fee was an absurd additional cost per person. As the combined $24 total we would have happily spent on more booze instead of winning trivia.

Next time, Irish Times! Game on.... game off vodvil.

FOUND: snakepit

Ended up in a pit of snakes with my sister.

In this pit, the nachos are $3 on Wednesdays, my kind of pit.

No need to talk when your sister when she has her cell phone in tow. All my attention was really devoted to my nacho plate anyway.

This dive will always just be a dive and the nachos and big screened dodger games will keep me coming back.

FOUND: crows in da hood

So the crows that wake me in the morn have taken a break from their perch outside my window, mostly thanks to the BB gun.

Yet I'm still haunted by their presence.

Store windows

And Street artwork.

FOUND: Wall o Cider

I wish I was craftier.

I wish I had an empty wall.

I wish I had bottles of my brother's hard cider.

I wish I knew someone who could create this for me.
