FOUND: summer pooling

Bringing it back. Old school summer kick back.

The turban was out.

Hayes was manning the grill.

People were flying in the air.

FOUND: John in flight

John John John... Thank God you have done this all of your life, because if you didn't I would surely be nervous.

Now kids, Don't try this at home. Come to mine, try it here instead.

*great shots Eric

FOUND: mi chato

Haven't been to El Chato in a while, which basically means I haven't been drinking south of Olympic in a while.

Their revolving pork stick - is known from miles around- and it draws in a pretty eclectic crowd.

It's always worth the wait.

Under the CFLs (compact fluorescent lightbulbs), nothing is more romantic.

$1/taco, $4/quesadilla

Mexicokes & fresh Horchat-ahhhhs

FOUND: Bike-pack

Need to get around to adding another bike to the fold. My other four bikes are feeling lonely. I have some jealousy issues I need to address, there have been a number of bikes at the farmer's market that I have been taking note of.

I love the rear bike packs on these two. I also like the lighting situation rigged up, it lights as you bike.... The Japanese and Germans love it and so do I!

FOUND: mimosas and tim Burton

I don't like French Toast, German Toast is more my flavor. That said, this toast was insane... oozing roasted maple pecans... smothered all over it.

I never noticed this well manicured (fake?) animal topiary until this visit to LACMA, when I was heading into Tim Burton's exhibit. It was only fitting to see this placed outside of an exhibit honoring the creator of Edward Scissorhands. Which reminds me I should netflix that, it has been over a year since I last saw that movie.

I love the design overhaul of LACMA, that communal outdoor sitting space has revolutionized the museum going experience. There are $2.50 coffees you can get at a stand.. or go to Stark Bar for a post-mimosa brunch cocktail, to keep the fire going. These simple adjustments that LACMA has made, create for me a destination, for pre/post pseudo-analytic ( mostly bullshit) artistic discussion.

I took this just before getting lambasted for ignoring the rules. Teehee.

Abigail joined me for a pit-side park respite with some dogs, the edible kind.

FOUND: daughter of a gun

My second time at son of a gun and I think I figured out how to do it successfully and affordably:
1- bike there
2-arrive at 10pm, score a table without a ressie

3-bring someone who agrees to split

The lightbulb went off for Katie, let's split the only two non seafood items. Chicken sandwich and Ham.
4- Order a Mai Tai- $10

Makes for two happy daughters.

FOUND: daiquiriworks

Used mom's peaches for some fresh peach daiquiris.

Katie was enjoying the view when I whipped out these guys...

Boom, sparklers.

Except they were actually firecrackers.

Probably should have read the packaging better.

I opened my front door this morning to find this paperbag.

Farm fresh, doesn't get any more local than your mom's new back yard. Eat your hearts out CSAs!

FOUND: elf

Stephanie and I thought we would be animal lovers for a day and eat an elf. I mean at elf.

So Elf is this restaurant that I literally avoided up until last night when I found out it wasn't vegan, which meant I could order a cheese-laden meal. As we all know, It isn't a meal without cheese.

Stephanie and I had one of the best meals of the year here.

I loved the BYOB element, that never gets old for me!

This is the tart- you select the fillings.

You can't see this one, it's a corn meal crusted fried oyster mushroom starter.... I could have eaten three of those.

All together an enjoyable experience. And to think, we even saved a life by eating there.

Tonight, not so much the case. Sorry Bessie, I be craving a burger.

FOUND: The 4-hour Work Week

This month my book club met for our book: The 4- Hour Workweek

The meeting was more like a book club meeting for The 4-Hour Drink Day.

We met for a leisurely brunch, to lounge, chat, and day drink at an empty beach.

The hit of the spread were the trader joes aebleskivers... Those little pancake balls... I swear.

HP for life!
