FOUND: Dancing with the.... Lucy?
So I need to get my body in TIP TOP DANCING shape. How do I do that? Put myself on a strict diet.
Well, apparently not right away... I woke up this morning and had a Krispy Kreme... but it was only bc I was craving something crispy and creamy.
So back to real issue here: I am going to a costume ball and I need to look like a professional latin ballroom dancer.
First I need to dip my skin in brown dye.
Second I need to get a full body wax
Third I need to get a full body lipo
Fourth I need to find some feathers and fringe in the most obnoxious colors and then sew them together to cover my bits.
Fifth I need to repeat steps 1-4 for my partner.
VOILA...
Simple as that... Simply Ballroom.
FOUND: Bowl Full of Concerts
I love love the hollywood bowl. I rarely get to enjoy the fruits of the canyon music venue... as I never know when I am technically available to go see a concert. Especially during the summer. My production schedule constantly shifts and making plans is virtually impossible. Thus going to concerts pretty much falls to the bottom of my list of things I can commit to.
Hence the reason why I failed to buy Coachella Tickets. (BIG F'n Sad Face) Yes, I am lame for a second year in a row.
So today they announced The Summer Bowl Series... and I couldn't face the music... another set of tickets I can't purchase.
Though, I thought it would be nice to share a link with you, so you can brag to me when you get tickets to a concert.

FOUND: Aframe of mind
Who goes to a popular restaurant in LA at 8pm that doesn't take reservations....
Me.
So there we were, at AFRAME sitting fireside & alongside a portion of Frank Gehry's Sydney office, playing a civilized game of F,M,K. If you don't know what that means, it is best you don't. I would prefer that you think I am remotely mature. I was completely entertained by how quintessentially they were all dressed as architects and in such an appropriate setting... sitting outside meticulously examining the A-FRAME from afar before moving inside where they can continue said conversation about A-Frame's architectural style...failing even to notice the food placed in front of them.
Beer can chicken- A-
Veg tempura- b
Sweet potato fries- b-
Kettle corn- A
Ribs- A
Ambiance- lovely and great music selection
Wait- waaaaaaay too long, but that was mostly our fault.
Insider tip- order kettle corn whilst waiting at the fireplace
Me.
I'm a risk taker like that.
Hostess: "That will be a 1 1/2 hr wait."
(my friends audibly moan)
Me: "Of course we're in!"

Me: "Of course we're in!"
(they roll their eyes in unison)
Me: "Let's grab some Hites and saddle up next to the folk over by the fireplace"

By the time we were walked to our table, we had already spent over an hour anticipating the dishes we had selected that morning after our obligatory Yelp-session.
I would have taken photos *sorry* but I was so hungry... I literally ended up man-handling all of the food we ordered. (all utensil-free foods, I will have you know)... and honestly taking out my camera was far too laborious a task.
We befriended our neighboring tables and became fast food-friends... it was a lovely moon-lit night.... though frankly I couldn't see the moon, bc when I looked up I was sitting under a lit up white hoop skirt.

FOUND: typewriting my diary
I have decided to start using my brother's Christmas gift to me...
It will require that I learn how to use a typewriter.
I am going to type my diary, as my handwriting looks pretty prehistoric.
Typing on this device requires that I think before I type.... Very little room for error... I haven't found a delete button yet.

FOUND: Squirrel Phones Home.
FOUND: Mas Malo, Mas Ruido
MAS MALO, downtown.
Same menu.
More noise.
Same menu.
Same prices.
Better service.
Better location.
More people.
More noise.
Bonus: Next door to Seven Grand
Sadly: Next door to Seven Grand, I am kinda over that place.
FOUND: Houses of Hancock Park
My Friend Katie & Laist told me about this blog today. Wild it took me this long to hear about it. CHECK IT OUT.
I am tempted to ask the blogger to review my parent's house. So curious what he would have to say. He did mention the Rheinsteins, which obviously is one of the joyas of the barrio. FOUND: Keegan gibbs / open space
Ahhh. Art openings.
Let's be honest, I usually find myself passing more minutes examining the invitees and ruminating on the nature of their invitation.
This event was no different.
The artwork was particularly delightful and if it weren't for the human blockades of hipster-hovering around celeb-attendees,I would have succeeded at giving every piece my undivided attention. all five seconds of it.
Alas, it is just in the nature of attending an art opening to see and be seen. Checking out the real works on display, working the room.
The installations were illuminating and illuminated.
My favorite. (bc you always need to pick a fav, especially when you fantasize about being a future patroness of the arts)
I do have to give a shout out to LA for keeping it pretty damn real... Art openings in NY make me shudder. Too much everything and everyone all at once. The truck parked in the center of the gallery lightened the mood added a welcome dose of humor.

FOUND: sul jip
I would highly recommend heading to Ktown, more specifically to Sul Jip which according to my Korean friend Joe, means alcohol house.
Alcohol house... Party it felt like.
There were solo cups and ping pong balls a plenty at this bar and what really caught my attention was the section entitled "deep-fried" on the menu.

FOUND: Venice ale house
After a leisurely bike ride along the path, my sister and I rolled right into the ale house in Venice.
Now there were many elements that attracted me to this place:
1- lengthy beer menu
2-the 75 degree weather prime for patio sitting
3- arbor boards everywhere
4- skateboard valet
The biggest disappointment was the service....
Thank god for the beer... Otherwise I would have been left with a bad taste in my mouth.
*Creative note: The Skateboard trucks screwed in under the bar, for purses. V.Clever.

FOUND: lacma
I would like to thank Target for sponsoring a free day at LACMA. Of course I wasn't thinking about work until I saw this Jeff Koons giant balloon animal.
The museum was buzzing with young families, it's a shame it isn't always this animated. If I was a bazillionaire I would do as Target did and sponsor it every weekend. LACMA doesn't get half as much love as it deserves from the city-folk who live here.
****UPDATE: PLEASE SEE COMMENTS SECTION!

FOUND: Melrose Nights
Every good thing has to start from somewhere...
Melrose Night
I am super pleased that this is happening in my hood... I just hope that it gets flooded with actual hood-rats
Here's to hoping it doesn't turn into a quickly aging fad that melrose stores are known to sell.
The biggest bonus: 8 oz Burger Bar throws in a can a beer for every burger purchase.
They just need to get a bike valet set up.... I will be patient... it will come in time.
On January 6, 2010 from 6PM-10PM, come out to Melrose Avenue between Ogden Dr. and Stanley Avenue, to receive 10% OFF YOUR ENTIRE PURCHASE at participating stores and food trucks. *To receive 10% off at stores, simply show your receipt from any participating food truck and vice versa. To receive 10% off your entire meal, show your receipt from any participating store. No minimum purchase necessary, just a purchase.

FOUND: 2011
So I must confess. If it isn't obvious already, I have been lazy. Like epically lazy. (So lazy I just used the word Like)
The holiday season kept me busy with the comings and goings of friends. The Santa Man gifted me a new computer and I gifted myself the iphone4 which will facilitate mass-posting. Now I just need to figure out how to use them both.
In the meantime... I have decided this new year I will jam pack my life with even more fun-filled LA-based activities that I will be sharing with my readership of four.
To start- I am going to Eat Pancakes and Drink. J'adore Pancakes. All-U-Can-Eat? Don't mind if I do.
Pancakes= Beer sponges in my belly.
