No, it wasn't my intention going for an abstract blur effect with this photo.
Yes, it is true, this photo is fantastically awful. I confess, I was so dazzled by this band that taking a photo to document the night only really came as an after thought. Looking down at the photo to check it's greatness was not worth the distraction.

I knew I was going specifically to see Milo Greene, but I had no idea how good they were actually going to be.

Like Local Natives, they know how to harmonize my socks off. Their energy radiated so much that even this wallflower found herself swaying. I rarely focus on the drum... I usually get caught in the bright bass lines myself... But the throbbing drums driving the songs did not go unnoticed. In fact, it was very noticed,

My stiff legs propping myself between a concrete stair and a decorative table, noodled at the first note of the first song and I knew that I had been won over.

It turned into one of those nights you wished you were with someone to share the delicious melodies. I couldn't keep this tasty musical nugget to myself, so I figured I would spread word now, so when the band returns to LA I will have listening partners already lined up.

You heard it here first: they will be selling out the Wiltern by next November. Enjoy them while they are still cheap, intimate, and accessible.... It tastes so much better that way.

Long overdue for a return visit to School Night. It's so hard to motivate anyone to attend a concert that starts after 10pm on a school night.

Oh well. I did try.

This band made me feel old and youthful at the same time. I'll keep my eyes peeled for these young whippersnappers at sxsw this year. Apparently they were the hit of the festival, though I seemingly missed out last year.....

I won't make the same mistake twice.

We made it just in time... Pacific Standard Time... (go see it) for a quick photo op before the sunset.

The light gave all of our skin a Simpsonian hue of yellow.

Pete & Daren treated me to a fundraising fete for the LA public Library.

There were some special guests who read from their favorite books- Sarah Silverman read some e.e. And Demitri Martin read the Dictionary.... And Russell Brand read Oscar Wilde...

All of the comedians were spectacular, but I was most impressed by Henry Rollins... What a presence.... I was blown away.

I think this was the first time I was in a library where it was ok to eat and drink. It felt wrong and yet, so right.

No, I didn't just enroll in a Spanish language school, I just went to a mid-city byob hipster taco joint. Escuela taught me a lot about the place of a gourmet taco in the LA food scene.

Found myself almost a dozen sand dollars, if only it was a real currency... I'm keeping them just in case.

Milked one of the best late afternoon Santa Monica beachside walks.... It was 75 and sunny and empty. I love warm fall days when the forecast falsely reads it is in the 60s. I don't think I have ever found a sand dollar or even a sand cent before, so to find almost a dozen in a day left me perplexed.

I'm opening a sand bank as I type this.

On my way from my parents farm in ojai, I had to pick up some pumpkins. Had to. It's pumpkin time.

I wanted a big one. Shocking I know, but worried I wouldn't be able to get it out of my car alone.

The sacrifices I make as a single woman. My pumpkin could have been Great, just like Charlie Brown's. Sadly my pumpkin is just classified as Good.

Second annual tour de fat. Kind of lovely that even though it is free and open to the public only cyclers really know about it. It's literally a party thrown just for us.

It shocks me how fast word travels among the cycling community, I guess now that I give it some more thought, we do mobilize. The bike valet was Parked up 7 times over and all of the fencing was locked top to bottom with U's.

The staging has carney appeal.

The husband wife show, the honeymooners, were sensational.

This octocycle was absurd.

This lounge-cycle I rode away on.

Everyone biked there to have a good time. and a good time was had by all.

After a month of truck food indulgences, I found the sandwich of my dreams at the Get Toasted truck.

Pulled pork and BBQ has a baby with a bahn mi. And its the tastiest baby I have ever eaten.

My co worker had the chicken curry sandwich, both of us loved them so much, neither wanted to sacrifice a bite of the other. It was that good.

Ugh, so good as I type this I'm looking up where the truck is currently so I can another... Yes please!

Don't even get me started with the sweet potato tatertots.

That deserves a post of it's own.

The Bennett clan carpooled to the newly opened Mercato for my belated Birthday dinner. It's so hip to carpool, everyone is doing it these days.

I opened my pressies and a bottle of cava at Katie's to kickstart the festivities with the family.

When we got to the restaurant, We ordered almost everything.

This restaurant is a happy addition to the already solid Italian eateries in LA. It's like we have a little Italy sprinkled across the city.

Not to be missed: Order the mushroom pizza, the sausage penne, the asparagus crustini, and the stuffed olives.

Oh and the donut dessert, the margarita, and and and.

The Red bench in front was the biggest hit for me. After a big meal, a girl wants to sit down whilst awaiting her chariot's arrival. My favorite moment of the evening was when my mom asked the waiter if she could validate the valet ticket. Yup, her response - I really don't get out much.

Love her!

At the end of the night, Dad was not the only one wearing a bowtie....

Look what he gave me for my birthday!!!

My very own everyday Bowtie...he knows how much I love me a bowtie. Let's be honest, I love it even as a pasta.

Stephanie and I bent it all the way when we ordered....

Though we ordered only 4 things, it was clear to us it was the best 4 things. I know that " I've made it" when I can one day walk into a restaurant like that and order one of everything on the menu. Well, actually Both menus, which means one of each of the 50 beers on tap.

It's my kind of establishment, minus the hip-stars. They always ruin it for me, harder to get a last minute ressie that way.

I'll be back. I'm working my way through the beer menu one tap at a time. I'm methodical like that.

Another cyclavia, so pleased they waited for me to get back from Spain.

At this restaurant on flower there is a bar and a kitchen... I only used the bar. Ordered a glass of chardonnay, mixed it up a bit, moving away from my pint of beer. The cocktails seemed to be too bitter, all included various types of bitters, which leaves an expected bitter taste in my mouth.

The setting was interesting, lots of lovely lighting until your eye catches an Ill-selected OC bougie fireplace placed front and center.

Regardless, I didn't eat, I drank my meal and rolled out an hour later. The service was appalling, leading to my gratitude that my dad treated me to Wurstkuche before I met up.

Can't beat that. Sorry bar/ kitchen.... Just work on your kitchen and I will surely come back
